Potential Gaps & Solutions
Public records might not provide comprehensive, up-to-date information about underutilized or abandoned properties.
Some buildings, especially older ones, may lack adequate documentation regarding construction materials, original use, or historical significance.
Potential Solutions:
Contact the Gadsden County Property Appraiser for property records.
Use GIS mapping tools to cross-reference vacancy data with field observations.
Quincy’s climate brings unpredictable rainfall patterns and increasing temperatures due to climate change. Designing for long-term resilience will require careful climate modeling.
Implementing green infrastructure might conflict with historical preservation goals or community expectations.
Potential Solutions:
Use climate simulation software to model conditions.
Develop context-specific design guidelines that balance historic preservation and sustainability goals.
Guiding Resources
The following two slides from Rodrigo Martin's lecture are simple, but offers great guidance in my research process. As researchers, we can become stagnant at times when we reach a roadblock in our investigation, struggling to find new insights or connections. These slides presented by Mr. Rodrigo offers sources that can further our research in these times of need. As we tend to focus on more standard and conventional sources such as Google, or methods such as note-taking, Mr. Rodrigo reminds us that there is so much more out there that can be even more helpful to our research journey.
